Noted Problems - Windows XP

Common problem 1: Some users have noted that when they attempt to install the VPN client on a Windows XP machine, a message appears that requests the installation of Microsoft Dialup Networking Version 1.2 or greater. Then, the installation procedure appears to terminate.

This error message may be the result of clicking on the .exe icon to perform the install; however, Microsoft does not list this driver for Windows XP Home. It is recommended that users install the VPN software by using the Start - -›Run" window.

Common problem 2: Some users have noted the warning message "Deterministic Network Enhancer Miniport has not passed Windows logo testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP" while installing the VPN client. The suggested solution is to click <continue>.

Step 3.
Connect to PSU using the PSU VPN Client you just installed:

  1. Open the Cisco VPN Client software
    1. Click Start/All Programs/Cisco Systems VPN Client
    2. Click “VPN Client” (the yellow lock)
  2. From the list of Connection Entries, double-click on or highlight and Connect to:
    1. ITS Wireless at UP (you may have to scroll down to find it)
  3. At prompt enter the “username” and “password” you were given. Then click OK.
  4. A little yellow locked lock on your task bar indicates you have successfully connected.
  5. You should now have internet connectivity via your wireless card
